Challenge One:
Your team must layout an ‘operational road’ through a number of different forest stands and explain forest structure changes along the road’s pathway.
Background:
The Operational Road – you will design the most cost effective road as your team addresses wetlands/lakes/streams, steep slopes and, Species at Risk issues.

The End Game:
Each member of your team will present to the class your team’s approach in designing a realistic road approximately 1 km long through the forest. Also, each member of the team will provide their observations of why forest cover-type changes (ie red maple stand to a tamarack / spruce stand) occurred along the road’s path. Each team will electronically submit a complete report on their findings
